EU Information Centres

The existing EU Information Network developed as a decentralised information network in 1995 by the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey in partnership with hosting partner organisations (e.g. Chambers of Commerce and Industry).

It includes 21 information centres set up in Ankara, Antalya, Bursa, Denizli, Diyarbakır, Erzurum, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, İstanbul(2), İzmir, Kayseri, Mersin, Samsun, Sivas, Trabzon, Van, Edirne, Konya, Şanlıurfa and Kocaeli.

The tasks carried out by the EUICs include:

  • ensuring the public is able to access various databases of the EU;
  • contributing to widen the network among EU information providers;
  • establishing and maintaining close relations with target groups;
  • serving as a reference point for the general public by advising on where and how to obtain further information from other more specialised sources;
  • organising seminars on EU-Turkey relations and on EU policies, attended by experts as speakers;
  • distributing to the relevant sections of the public the booklets and other written materials prepared by the EU and translated to Turkish by the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey;
